Five years. It's been five years since the first book in Beth Revis's Across the Universe trilogy was first released.
(I swear, the older I get, the faster time seems to fly.)
Way back in 2011, I was lucky enough to receive a pre-release copy of this book from the Australian publishers at Penguin and ever since I've loved this three part series.
Book one follows both Amy and Elder as they attempt to navigate their way through the trials and tribulations of life onboard a spacecraft.
A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.
Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone - one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship - tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.
But, you ask, why do you have two copies of Across the Universe?
Well, the answer is very exciting! Not only do I have a pre-release copy, I also have a special edition which including a list of acknowlements by Beth naming all of her early Facebook fans. Here's a snap of a double spread, among which is my own name ;)
